What For
Thank you for your interest in Summit High School’s FIRST® Robotics team. Our program is designed to give students the opportunity to learn about engineering & technology in a hands-on and fun environment. The FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program’s mission is to inspire young people to become science and technology leaders by directly involving students in designing, modeling, building, and operating robots in competition.
Why Contribute
FIRST® Robotics programs aim to expose students to new technologies, industry professionals, and scholarship opportunities through a student-led cooperative effort, guided by adult volunteers and mentors. Students learn industry-standard technical skills, such as engineering, design, and development, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, industrial assembly techniques, software development, and more. Summit High School Robotics creates an environment which simulates a real-world engineering workplace environment, and this cooperative effort teaches students what our program refers to as “Soft skills”, as well as the technical “Hard skills” listed above. These soft skills include time management, communication, professionalism, leadership, and other interpersonal workplace skills.
Our program is also aimed at giving back to the community. In cooperation with Summit High School and the Bend-La Pine School District, our team has worked to raise awareness throughout the Central Oregon community of STEM education at the K-12 level. Our students mentor elementary and middle school robotics programs and have been responsible for bringing FIRST® Lego League (FLL) and FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics programs to many primary schools around Central Oregon.
How to Help
Our program exists thanks to the tireless effort of our adult volunteers, mentors, and coaches, as well as the generous financial contributions of various individuals and businesses throughout Oregon. Our team works to spread the names of our sponsors by putting business logos and names on the robot and team banners which we display at local events as well as competitions throughout the Pacific Northwest and at the worldwide level. The names and logos of sponsors will also appear on team apparel.
Donations to the Summit High School Robotics Booster Club are accepted at the link below. 100% of Booster Club revenue is given to the Team. Chaos Theory is primarily supported by our Booster Club, so we encourage you to donate to it, rather than give directly.
